عن World Explorer: Geography Map Quiz
World Explorer is a free geography game you play on your smart TV with nothing but the remote. A real world map fills the screen and asks you to find a place: “Find Peru”, “Find Nairobi”, “Find Oceania”. Press the arrow buttons and the cursor jumps from one country to the next in that direction, so even tiny countries such as Luxembourg, Malta or Singapore are easy to reach. When you are on the right one, press OK.
There are four ways to play. Countries asks you to find a country on the map of Europe, Asia, Africa, North America, South America, Oceania or the whole world. Capitals asks for capital cities, either as dots on the map or as a four-answer multiple choice question for a highlighted country. Continents covers all seven continents, and World Mix shuffles everything together. Easy uses around 60 famous countries, Medium adds every country larger than 10,000 km², and Hard includes all 194.
Every answer teaches something. Right or wrong, the map lights up the real location and shows a short fact, and the results screen lists the places you missed so you can learn them for next time. A right answer scores 100 points, or 50 if you asked for a hint, and your best score is saved on the TV. It is a calm, screen-sized way for kids to learn the world map, for families to play as a team on the sofa, and for adults to settle who really knows where Kyrgyzstan is.

Choose what to find (Countries, Capitals, Continents or World Mix), a region, a level from Easy to Hard and 5, 10 or 20 questions, then press Start.

Read the question at the top of the screen, for example “Find Portugal”.

Use the arrow buttons: the cursor jumps to the next country, city or continent in that direction and lights it up.

Press OK when you are on the right place. For four-answer capital questions, choose with up and down and press OK.

Stuck? Press Back and choose Hint, or press a colour button. A correct answer with a hint scores 50 points instead of 100.

After every answer the map shows the real location and a fact. At the end, check your score and the list of places to learn.

- How do I select a small country with a TV remote?
- You do not have to aim. The arrow buttons jump from one country to the next in that direction, so small countries such as Luxembourg, Malta, Singapore or the Caribbean islands are reached in a few presses.
- Can we play World Explorer as a family or in a classroom?
- Yes. Put the map on the TV or a projector and answer together as a team, or take turns with the remote and compare scores. Rounds of 5, 10 or 20 questions make it easy to fit into a lesson or a game night.
- How does scoring work?
- A correct answer scores 100 points, or 50 if you used a hint. A wrong answer scores nothing but shows you the right place. Your best score for each setup is saved on the TV.
- Do I need a phone, app or download?
- No. World Explorer runs in the web browser of Samsung, LG, Android TV, Google TV and Fire TV sets, and also works on a laptop with the keyboard arrows. It is free with no sign-up.
