Acerca de SOS

SOS is a classic pencil-and-paper strategy game reinvented for the living room TV. Players take turns placing either the letter S or the letter O into empty squares on the grid. Whenever a player completes the sequence S-O-S in a straight line — horizontally, vertically, or diagonally — they score a point and earn another turn!

Choose your board size from a quick 5×5 grid for snappy 5-minute games, a balanced 7×7 for tactical mid-length play, or the strategic 9×9 for extended battles. Support 2, 3, or 4 players with each player's completed SOS sequences highlighted in their own colour, making scoring instantly visible from across the room.

A single move can complete multiple SOS sequences simultaneously — each one scores a separate point and the bonus turn continues until no more sequences are scored. When the board is completely full the player with the most SOS sequences wins.

Cómo jugar

  1. 1

Choose the number of players (2–4), how many of them are computers (Easy or Hard), and the board size (5×5, 7×7 or 9×9), then press Start Game.

  2. 2

On your turn, use the TV remote D-pad to move the cursor to an empty square.

  3. 3

Press OK to open the letter selector, choose S or O with the arrow keys, then press OK again to place it.

  4. 4

If your letter completes one or more SOS sequences, each sequence scores 1 point and you get another turn.

  5. 5

When the board is full, the player with the most SOS sequences wins. Ties are shared.

Preguntas frecuentes

How does scoring work in SOS?
Every time your letter completes the S-O-S sequence in any straight line, you score 1 point per sequence. If one move creates multiple SOS sequences, you score all of them and earn another turn.
What happens when a player scores?
The completed SOS sequence is highlighted in the scoring player's colour and they immediately get another turn — the turn only passes when a move scores zero points.
Can we play SOS with phones as controllers?
Yes. Scan the on-screen QR code to connect up to 4 smartphones. Each player moves with the D-pad on their phone and taps S or O to place their letter.
What is the best board size for beginners?
The 5×5 board is perfect for first-timers and quick games. The 7×7 offers the most balanced tactical experience and is recommended for regular play.
